Deep Drawing is One of the widely used Metal Forming processes in which priorly cut sheet metal is drawn to the required height and shape by using the Punch and Cavity. Many Automotive, Aerospace, and House Hold Appliances are drawn by these Presses. Arrangement of the Punch and Cavity can be different for Double Action and Die Cushion type of Press. In Die Cushion type of Hydraulic Press, Punch is mounted on the fixed bolster plate on the bottom side and cavity is mounted on the moving slide of the machine. A pressure plate is placed by the punch and is supported by the cushion pin. There are mainly two cylinders, the Main Pressing cylinder and the other is Cushion Cylinder. Both can be designed as per the application and customer requirements. Main Cylinder is mounted with the moving slide and Applies Drawing Pressure. Cushion Cylinder is on the bottom of the machine and mounted with the Cushion Pad. The cushion pin rests on the cushion pad freely and moves up and down through the Cushion Pin Hole in Bolster Plate. During the Operation Pressure Plate with Cushion Pin holds the Metal Sheet and with the help of Cushion Cylinder and Main Cylinder Draws the Parts of desired height and Shape. The pressure of both Cylinders can be adjusted accordingly to get wrinkle and scratch-free parts.
